Is a vibrator a worthwhile purchase?

To all the women out there who have bought vibrators: are they worthwhile? I'm 18 years old and single, so I know it is legal and I guess normal to want one. I'm just embarred to actually buy one, and I would feel horrified if my parents somehow came across it since I still live at home. Do vibrators enhance a solo ual experience by a lot?
