An Emergency Homebrew question?

Just getting ready to transfer ale from carboy to bottling bucket & my siphon breaks! cant just use the hose cause it isn't long enough & cant get one today! could i just slowly pour the beer through a sanitized strainer into the bottling bucket? ( if i am careful not to get too much air in it from splashing? )
